I hope that those "newbies" will explore more bout the character... then they will see how much of inspired "augmentation" I have put into her.
You seem to be right on the account of my exclusivity of devotion I direct towards Winnie as far as submissions go. If I had this fevered energy to generate for some other character in the past like....oh....let's say HECKLE and JECKLE, I'd probably cut my hand off....

I wholeheartedly agree, stemming from the fact historically she has not changed her visage much since the original model came out in 1954. (...actually...she DID have a GREAT figure in the Woody short INTERNATIONAL WOODPECKER, in cameo. I think the Lantz Studio animator LaVerne Harding had something to do with that...
I'm sure hoping this is cool with Mr. Woodrow Woodpecker. Last thing I want to see happen is to have you caught up in one of those celebrity scandals, those things are just ugly. Woody might have that signature laugh on the screen, but I have a feeling he's dead serious when it comes to his main squeeze. O_O
With that "Death-chisel"on his face, you may be right about that... but, I have to say, in observance of Woody's long career, has shown very little emotional devotion episodes (...animation, comics, art) towards her... besides, I doubt in the strictest sense that Woody would even RECOGNIZE her in my interpretation.
I think I'm safe.

On that business of "emotional devotion episodes", I can officially tell you that it's the corporation that's responsible for whether or not you see that portrayed! If Universal hands down a mandate saying no frisky stuff in their cartoons or comics, that's that - but it has little or nothing to do with the characters off-camera. Miranda Panda, Andy's significant other, has had even less screen time than Winnie, but outside the studio those two can't keep their hands off each other. Anyone who thinks pandas won't mate in captivity hasn't met them.
(and I won't tell Minerva... you have enough experience by now to handle that situation yourself... *^_^*)

You have just touched upon something in my developed past that would explain Winnie in her current artistic state with me: My inspiration to doing cartoony art was from following the broadcasts and publishing of Woody in their various forms. In that following , I came to realize that there was a considerable lack of that "emotional devotion" in stories and such in the Lantz universe. I, being hyper-actively creative and a romantic at heart, always dreamed of Woody and Winnie on such emotional episodes that seem to dominate the likes of Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the media: you KNEW Mic and Min were "involved"- thus, lacking any sort of "confirmation" of those birds as "together" for someone as yearning to prove as myself. It became of paramount importance to me this issue and of consequence, my "developmental evolution" of Winnie had sprouted into what she is today.
Gawds, I feel so nerdy right now...( this, coming from the guy internationally known for marriage to a mink...)

You're not really nerdy... I wondered about the same thing myself! I found out by reading "Cartoonist PROfiles" magazine, that Universal was that restrictive about their feminine cartoon characters. I can't remember exactly why, but it was a dictum handed down from Universal to Lantz. So it wasn't your imagination. The Lantz animators did, to a certain degree, much the same things between Winnie and Woody (strictly in-house among themselves within the studio, of course!!) as you've done on your own. *^_^*
Well, I gotta confess that the last panel made me laugh really good. Ever since you presented that "Woody's Lament" comic in 'Brazzle I've come to enjoy your observations on Anthropomorphic Animal characters as having the personalities of People. Of course you're one of the few who also take the ideas into their extremes as we discussed briefly at FC. Anyway, the image of Winnie futiley tossing her hair "Scrunchie" at the departing Mitch was like the "Icing on the cake" for me. It was the perfect way to cap off the action, and added a very humorous twist to the ending. Bravo.
