thank you femm... the aircraft is a Saunders Roe A19 Cloud. I didn't know this during the first writing as I simply wrote what I saw, but after researching the net and all the pictures of flying boats, there it was. I think I was off on two details but I can accept that.

I'm really liking this. Especially Harry. He's a character I can enjoy listening to. Alice is interesting, too, but we don't know all that much about her yet. Well, except for her real name.

You know, I never would have thought of spending the night on the ocean in one of those flying boats. I always assumed they were only really safe near the coast or in a bay where the waves couldn't upset them too much.

Oh heck no..... back before they built airfields everywhere airboats were the way to do anything long distance. They had huge versions. (not as big as the Spruce Goose but really big like the Martin) Now waves... I agree that would be problematic but in this case the Pacific ocean was also calm. I believe the flying boats can also handle waves up to a certain size (small waves to be sure)
