
Not too happy with how this pic came out, but managed to touch it up a bit in post to make it somewhat passable.
It's hard to take photos of spiders in webs due to a lack of support surfaces, but also because there usually isn't anything behind them to bounce the light of the flash off of. Because of that, it tends to look like they are floating in a black void.
This is a juvenile Golden-silk orbweaver (Nephila clavipes. Quite small now, but will grow into a very very large spider in a couple months.

When I lived in Louisiana we had tons of these! My favorite was the porch one as all the others would make webs along my path and scare me to pieces! But the porch one was named munky til I saw many tiny males trying to hump it XD
