he is a cutie.. and I agree, very few people are educated enough to have rats, they think they are throw away pets or snake food. They do not realize what good pets they are. My housemate has 5 and I adore them.

Funny you should mention snake food. All of my sister's pet mice were 'snake food' that never got ate.

Some of them outlived the snake!

If you look in my gallery, All the rats there were originally feeder rats except the new blue hooded girl and the hairless girl, the hooded came from a breeder and the hairless was a rescue..

Im just the housemate. The girls all belong to her, I just get the joy of being around them.. And ya know, its funny, the one rat of all the girls who is show quality is Penny, the little golden girl. And she was bought from the local petshop from their feeder rat bin. They have a huge plastic tote in the back with a wire lid where they keep 20-30 rats at a time. Abra and I went in and looked at them. And Abra opened the lid and stuck her hand in. Penny came to her and climbed up into her hand, and so she came home with us. Shes so sweet and loves to be petted. Shes more serious than the goofy Pip(blue capped) and just is a sweety.

Pip is a hyper goof who flips her lid and goes nuts if you tickle her. play play play.

that's sad. But still, not many people are even familiar with what goes on with rats~ You know?
Like, feeding snakes is fine, in nature, but when a rat is trapped in the cage, it's not fair :c
like, that's the first time I saw a rat at a pet store being squeezed to death with blood dripping from it's nose.. Since, I've kept them for pets.
They're really so sweet. And they give you so much with little given to them <3

"momma has noms? ~hiff hiff hiff~" is all i hear when i see this

I already have four (I've had them for two years)
And I have a doubt unit critter nation for them to scamper in~
A lot of people keep ten or more rats in the doubles..
But honestly, I think it's jussstt enough space for four..
maybe I'm spoiling my rats..
