Finally finished these up recently and thought I'd post pics! :D These are the luna moth costume wings I built for myself, measuring around 24" wingtip to wingtip, with green elwire outlines and white and yellow elwire accents.
Materials include several kinds of foam, armature wire, elwire and related supplies, laces (for tying them on), hemp cord, nylon thread, white paint pen, superglue, and two separate power sources (hudden by shaggy faux fur).
They took foreverrrrrrrrr to make for something their size (like 25+ hours, I lost count around 20) but I am super happy with the result. They use two inverters, one solid for the outline and and one strobe for the details - it's a little hard to convey in photo how trippy the effect is, but you'll have to just trust me. :B Oh, and the yellow/white accents are mirrored on the front and back of both wings, not just on the outside! I wore them to a festival the other week where they were well received... and I'm planning to bring them to wear while dancing at CFT and RainFurrest, both!
