I was sort of hoping using that bristley brush would make it more obviously a painting but the strokes aren’t really noticeable unless you see it high rez. Ohwells. I used to do a lot of portraits when I was in high school but now I only seem to do them as exercises because realism gets a bit super boring, but fun every once in a while :)

I'm a big fan of a lot of Moffat's work (especially his work on Dr Who and Sherlock) and having Mark Gatiss on the creative and acting team only makes things better. Oh, and top it off we have Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. What's not to love? :o
Also, as a crooked-toothed Limey, I get to watch all the episodes on the BBC as they're released, and tease my American friends about it. :3c

...I'm almost speechless. This piece looks positively stunning and realistic. You captured the contours and overall look of his face and head very nicely. And if you look at it from the "normal view" on this page, while blurring your eyes just the slightest bit...it turns this gorgeous painting into a realistic photo. XD Case in point...molto bene~!
I just watched part of Sherlock myself and really enjoyed it. Your portrait of Sherlock made me stop and look at it again; as I thought it screen shot from the series for a second. Impressive work.
PS: I wish they'd put more of the series up on netflix, and on the Canadian version at that.. stupid netflix.. making Canadians get the American netflix in order to see any of the good shows/movies. -end rant-
