The flare beetle features symbiotic bioluminescent bacteria which is keeps in a modified ovipositor. Thanks to the worlds low light levels, the native creatures eyes are slow to adjust to changes in light level. The beetle creates a glowing mucus bubble, which is then flicks in a different direction as a decoy and goes dark. It then take advantage of the diversion to swoop in for a quick bite...
