Here is a bit of Nastalga for Anthrocon 11 years apart:
- A comparison to the numbers of the fursuits that increased at Anthrocon in 11 Years.
- The top photo is one i took while at AC 2001 ( with a bulky HP 1.3 Megapixel camera that cost almost 500 bucks back then. :P )
There were approcimately 22 suits in the fursuits in this photo, but possibly more in total as im not sure about the entire parade back then. ( Yappy updated me on the numbers, which were closer to 100 in total for 2001. )
- The bottom photo is this year, with 1044 suits in the photo.
Thats a bit of an increase in 11 years :P
Ok, here is the amazing part.... take notice of the big red fox ( Yappy Fox ) in the AC 2001 photo, the same very suit is also in the 2012 photo ! ( middle front) almost in the same position. :P
*** Note - (if anyone know who snapped the main photo of AC let me know so i can add the credites to them here. )
* - The Anthrocon 2012 photo was shot and (c by Kreggan and Warphammer.

yappyfox Its the same body suit, but he had a new head made a few years ago ^^

Wow o,o AC has grown so big during 11 years and I really could expect that the con will stay as a world´s largest furry con even upcoming years :3
The first AC for me was 2011 and I was happy to be there this year as well,in crowd of over 1000 other fursuiters in fursuit photo :3

I was up until 3 am last night looking at old con pics from timduru's site.
It was interesting. There was only one picture with Timber and I together (both in suit) at AC2000. I was giving him the bunny ears. But by AC2001 there are lot of pics of us together, hugging and kissing even. :)
Funny what I year can do.

I think the 2001 photo was of the masquerade.. So not the parade.. (Since Pacer, Kodi, etc all are wearing N-fur shirts we made for the act that year.
And yes, Original Head was made by Herbie, but it was hot glued together, and end-bac destroyed the foam rubber... and it was a bit too big to pack in post 9/11 luggage restrictions, so Arend studio rebuilt it, to be the same. It was just a tad smaller.
It is the same body suit tho..
I am actually hoping someone has a photo from all the parades from 97 on, to make a historical log of sorts..
Who knew we should have been documenting way back then :)

Wow, how it has grown! It's great to see all these fursuits, but I can't find you anywhere.
What would be really cool is if somebody took the large full size of this picture and did an image map so that hovering over any fursuit would make the individual's name pop up. It would be a huge undertaking, though, and that person would have to know everybody's furry name!

AC 2001 was my fursuiting debut. I'm at the end of the top row on the left.
And I still have that exact same fursuit. The inside of the head is showing its age, though. It's become somewhat uncomfortable to wear it.
I'd like to get a re-design of the entire suit someday (it's only a partial -- head, arms/hands, legs/feet), but I currently can't afford to do so. Oh well.

I have to interject something here, all the suits at AC2k1 and before were made by their respective owners. (Or Marylens costumes) If you segregate all the 2k12 fursuits into their makers you will find large clumps. and fewer and fewer individual costumes. Not meaning to insult or hurt anyone who makes costumes as a side business. Though yes the quality has improved I agree.
I did AC back when it was Albany AnthroCon back in 1998. I still remember that fursuiting was still somewhat new at the time and a lot of people in my immediate social circle thought it was really really strange. In fact I don't think I saw more than 3 suits while I was there at that con. Look at it now! Bit of a shift, eh?
