Whatever. First chance I've had to paint in two and a half months and I get this? BAH. You wouldn't believe where my starting point was.
Honestly. :P

How startlingly beautiful is this?!! Dood, that blue/palegreen-brown combo is to die for! The little touch of yellow in the window is a GREAT focal point. The foreground sense of hidden detail is superb as well. Man, your work always makes me happily sigh. Many hugs for you! And thanks for sharing it!
It feeleth so good to be painting again. In fact it feels so good it's interfering with the poop I need to be doing. Dang muse. Thank you for the pat! I'll take that pat and raise you an egoboo: you rock. The last time I put more than 20 hours into a painting I wanted to shoot myself afterwards. I want to gab with you on arty subjects some time!
I think the big lesson for me was: don't get lost in the details. Turns out time isn't so much a factor as keeping your head during the process. As you said in another response: you define the light first and let everything fall into place.
I don't enjoy that method of painting so much any more; my idols have mostly been folks on the loose side of the fence (Sargent, Fechin, Cornwell, Sorolla--though I love the Orientalist artists too, and insanely tight folks like Bougereau). That's mostly where I want to play these days. What got you moving down your own artistic road?

I do appreciate people who can paint loosely like that, yet retain all the information because I have a hard time doing that. Been doing those studies with Strange fox, just have to keep doing them more.
Think with myself I want to get down ideas quicker, and do more work into my concept design ideas. Try and strengthen that aspect more :]

I have a hard time with letting myself cut loose, too. It's a little on the scary side, like flying without a net. I have to remind myself I have an Undo button. What is there to be afraid of if you have an Undo button? The worry sticks around anyway. Little bastard, Worry.
I'd dig seeing some of your concepts, your roughs, anything that shows a glimpse beneath the curtain. I love that stuff.
