Here some of my latest CDs I bought:
(from left to right)
Powerwolf - "Lupus Dei" (A German Power Metal Band with a good sense of humor and a faible for horror"
Nightwish - "Dark Passion Play" (Finnish Melodic/Gothic Metal band, with a new female singer)
Iced Earth - "Framing Armageddon" (US Power Metal band, part one of a two album concept idea)
As I Lay Dying - "An Ocean Between Us" (US Metalcore band, here as the collector's edition with an extra keystring)
Neaera - "Armamentarium" (German Metalcore band)
Amorphis - "Silent Waters" (Finnish Death Metal band)
Those CDs are part of my 2000+ CD collection I started since 1992. Collecting CDs seems to be futile in times you can download every single song and album, yet still having the original CD is a whole different and better feeling.

... not to mention that the sound quality is far superior on the CD (of especially DVD audio) compared to the MP3 format. Alas, lossless formats are so massive though.
I still buy a CD when I find music I like (The Dethalbum for instance--I downloaded it because it was unavailable for a while and then bought it when I was able to find it.)
Unfortunately... people are cheap and would prefer quantity over quality by instinct, I guess (Toys from China as en example here.) ;)
I'm not a CD "collector". I'll purchase them when it's worth buying... but to be honest the only CDs I've bought in maybe two years were Dethklok's "The Dethalbum" and The Dropkick Murphys "Warrior's Code".
