Camille had finally gotten the chance to go on a date with someone she'd had feelings for for a long time. He was someone of her same social class and understanding; someone she'd known since her middle school years.
She'd gotten all dressed up and decent for the occasion. The guy, named Mark, had came from a considerably rich family and she felt that she should try and live up to that for just one night. They were to have dinner at a very fine restaurant and then possibly go dancing.
However, the plans she was aware of were not what Mark had in mind.
Finally, after about an hour of being at the restaurant, Mark suggested they go back to the car. Not knowing Mark's real intentions, Camille agreed. As they got to the car, Mark pushed Camille up against it. She inhaled harshly as Mark tried to slip a hand up her silky black dress.
She tried desperately to push him away but he was too strong. Mark grabbed her wrists and held them effortlessly together with his large paw. As Camille began to whimper, he opened the car door and pushed her into the back seat. He had let go of her wrists.
She took this opportunity while she could, kicking him in his chest as he started to swoop down into the car. While he fell backwards, Camille reached for the door behind her. Quickly, she opened it, kicking her high-heel shoes off on the seat as she jumped out. She started running, not even bothering to look back.
After running for what seemed like an eternity, she finally broke down and began to cry. She took her cell phone out and with shaky fingers, texted her best friend to come get her.
After 10 minutes, he finally showed up. She recognized him immediately for he was wearing the same clothing he usually does; his dread locks also instantly recognizable. She looked up to him as he approached, trying to hide that she was crying. She hadn't told him the details; only asked him to pick her up. She knew that he'd come no matter what the reason. She meant that much to him.
"What happened?" Kaha could tell that she was crying. He'd been her friend long enough to see past her efforts.
"I don't want to talk about it right now, Jonesy.. Let's just go..."
If Kaha had ears, they would have drooped then. She rarely ever called him Jonesy, despite how much he oddly enjoyed it. He reached a paw out to her, hoping she'd take it. At first Camille was confused but then understood, placing her paw in his and smiling.
Maybe this whole time, the love she had been looking for was there all along. She never imagined she would be lucky enough to have a best friend like Kaha.
The idea for this has been floating around in my head for the past day. Late last night I decided to draw it out. I had it finished this morning but procrastinated posting it because I wanted to make sure I was awake enough to type the story out correctly. This is semi-based on a true story involving me and a guy whom's name has been changed in the story for personal reasons. All I can really say further is that I wish I had grown up with a best friend who only cared about my well being and that we fell in love in our older teen years. It's a silly dream but in this town, it would be a rare treasure.
