I finally have a ref to go off of when I write my novel!

This cute childlike jackal is slave to the High King and Prince. Khaba means Shade, and he certainly is. No one hardly sees him running around the palace doing his chores or bringing things to the King or Prince. He wears bands of copper around his tail and legs for when at night he is chained to his bed. Khaba has golden collar and earring befitting of the ones he serves. The rings on his fingers are trinkets that had been left from overnight royal visitors that he was allowed to keep.

He doesn't speak much of the language of the area, but understands well enough to get what needs to be done. He has known for quiet some time that the High King is fake, but can't tell anyone. It's because of his lack of speech the fake High King has said too many things around the boy. Now if only someone could speak his language ...
