Name: Thorn
Species: Earth Pony
Approximate age: 15-ish
Hometown: Everfree Forest
Family: Father-Oak, Mother- Daylily, Brothers- Catnip and Bramble
Likes: Plants, roughhousing with her brothers, nighttime
Dislikes: Leaving her family for long periods of time, magical plants
Picture and/or Description:
Cutie Mark: Leaf with a small indent at the upper right, tilted towards her tail
Talent: Herbalism. Extensive knowledge of plants and their uses as spices and medicine, new knowledge comes very easily to her.
Background: Thorn was found as a very young filly in the Everfree Forest by a family of Manticores. Though fearsome in appearance, Manticores are civil beasts that at once saw that the little pony was no threat. Though they had tried many times to get Thorn to go back into Ponyville in hopes she would find her actual parents, or at least a willing caregiver, they had to rest with the fact that they were stuck with her. Named Thorn, she was given the name that one; was within traditional Manticore naming practices, being named after aspects of nature and two; would give her more fearsome attributes. Though civilized, Maticores have a sense of pride in their appearing intimidating. Despite being raised out of normal pony society, Thorn can speak perfect Pony due to various expeditions into town and a slightly more garbled Manticore, venturing more into Ponyville as she gets older. One of her longer trips was to a small store, encouraged by her parents to stay in town for more than a minute, to shop. She came back with two red leg wraps and a sense of courage for herself. Thorn receives her Cutie Mark late due to her lack of exploration into the "civilized" life and only gets the small green leaf after finding her joy in healing and spices, once healing one of her brothers from the poisonous Dragon Weed. Thorn is shy, not by nature, but due to her lack of socialization to other ponies, though she is quick to make friends if they can get her to stay in town long enough. This causes her to be quite the spectacle of the town as she tends to try and hide every chance she gets(though not very well) behind every stall, booth and building. Thankfully her talent requires that she seek out the town for plants not growing in Everfree creating more opportunities for her world to go beyond her forest home, much to Oak's and Daylilly's delight. Though she works with plants, she knows nothing, and a bit fears, plants that have magical properties such as Heart's Desire, her "magic" coming from the essential properties of plants for healing and food.
