Yeah, the contractor is upstairs tearing down what is left of the ceiling in my room. They won't sweep out the extra insulation up there (no need), but there it is.

Wow... Reminds me of the time my folks' copper pipes burst inside the house, that ran through the ceiling.

Now you can go into the attic and not worry about falling through the ceiling... this is nothing to break through!

Sorry, but I always fear of missing my step and crashing through the sheetrock. Glad they are working fast getting this done. Hang in there.

I nearly had a conniption when i saw your wiring isn't in pipe!

(I live in Chicago, where the building codes have ALL building power in pipe for safety. This town ain't gonna burn down a second time.)

Yeah, New York City is like that, too. Fire codes in Columbus are much more lenient, because we are not as densely packed.

Still, there are advantages to piped wiring, like being able to add or remove wires without having to open up the wall. Want to turn a ceiling fan into a fan/light combo? Just pull one new wire for light power.

This is true. But it also means that doing new electrical work just quadrupled in cost.
