Tatiana poses outdoors in a latex catsuit.
But wait, there's more
When I started experimenting with drawing this material, I had no idea how much it was going to beat up my coloring skills. For those of you encountering this pic for the first time, it started as a pencil sketch that spawned two more drawings (link) (link) which in turn were revised and refined almost to the point of looking inked, followed by a trip back to the first pic to revise and sharpen the pencils (link). The only problem was, I didn't really know how to color the highlights and shadows, and while many appreciated my earlier efforts, I wasn't able to contact anyone who knew how to do this effect (okay, didn't really try to--more like "put these out there and hope someone more experienced is asked to look at my effort and give tips"). Meanwhile, I beat myself senseless for the better part of a month since Anthrocon trying to get "that look" to look right, trying and aborting color jobs on this pic, the last of which changed her two-piece outfit to a one-piece catsuit (had to completely re-do the highlights owing to the way I generated the layer)
So, I went into "analyse mode", studying stills from a catsuit video on YouTube (linked in T&S4), and scouted the websites of a couple of fetish-wear vendors before coming up with two schools of thought:
--First was the method I was trying to get a handle on--like chrome but based on a black surface (reflected light intensifies to a narrow line along the contour of the surface).
--The other method was to do normal light and shadow on a dull black surface, then add sharp, narrow secondary highlights along the brightest part of the lit area.
I eventually came up with a mix of the two techniques that finally looked kind-of right. What finally topped off the look was the use of lightly airbrushed highlights spilling outside the "bright line" at the points where the reflected light source was most intense, representing modest amounts of glare.
See? When I learn something, I describe my path to discovery and share the technique. Upper-tier artists in this fandom don't do that very often do they?
So what is Tatiana doing out here other than displaying her latex-wrapped bootie to you? Well, she's on some sort of boardwalk in the middle of some wetlands (those grasses and trees in the backdrop were also a new technique). What's she doing there? Well, I have it on good authority that mud washes off rubber real easy :)
Inkscape-inked pencils colored in Micrografx Picture Publisher 10. Ten layers (including logo/attributions), 178MB before reduction/compression.
