One "unfortunate side-effect" of the Death Sword is that the living becomes corrupted if they come in contact (be it by touch, bite, or ingestion) with anything that has already been corrupted. In the case of creatures such as ravens the welder can use their eyes as his/her own. While they become more aggressive and are physically deformed, the raven's intelligence stays intact.
