Just doodling on some scrap paper. Playing with splotchy background stuff, trying to make it look good. It's hard. D:
Also, fox.

I think it's something most traditional artists do, honestly. I've noticed that when I'm looking at paintings online, you'll often see a relatively small scan but the painting is like 20 inches across or more. One has to keep in mind that with a lot of traditional work you're expected to view from a bit of a distance, and if you get too close you'll start to see things that look a bit odd. Taking a small picture like this and scanning it in at my usual size would be like holding the picture right up to your face- it's just not how it's meant to be viewed, and you'll see lots of things you don't want to.
I guess that's my long winded way of saying... yeah! x3

Aw, cute little foxy! I love your little paintings like this. It's always so cool to see you put so much into such a small space, and that it always comes out looking every bit as good as your larger work, too! I really like the fox's rather pensive expression, and the little ferny plants behind him. It kind of looks like it could work as a little illustration for a story or a poem or something, which is really pretty neat.
It's always kind of cool to see a furry artist do the odd animal painting, too. As much as I enjoy anthro art, I do sometimes wish there was a bit more art of regular animals around. Thanks for sharing!

I keep hearing things words like 'story', 'poem' or 'children's book' whenever I post something like this. Those words pop up as much as any other. I might have to think about trying something like that some day, everybody seems to think I'm suited to it. :P
Someday I'm just going to have to suck it up and actually learn feral animals. They're just too adorable and fun not to doodle with now and then.

Probably half of it from me. I used to have this half-baked dream of doing childrens' books and having someone illustrate them, so I guess I never got out of the habit of kind of looking for one, if only as a sort of fantasy. But your style is so cute, even when you're drawing naughty stuff, and whether you do any of that stuff or not it would look great in a book somewhere.
This picture wasn't done on any standard size of paper, but instead on scrap paper that was left over after cutting out my usual sheets. My ruler however tells me that this piece is a little under 4 x 6 inches. For funsies I measured it on my monitor, and it's actually bigger on screen than it is in real life, at least with my setup. :P
