So today I got a look at the version of the Simorgh as shown in one of the DnD books and, to be frank, it made me want to try my hand at drawing this mythical dog-headed bird for myself. And this was the result.
Should anyone, for whatever reason, feel compelled to color this drawing properly, toss me a note and I'll link you to the larger, black and white version.
Reference was used for the wings, by the way (and the dog head, sorta.) Also, prototype sketches of this idea can be found here.

Since you're also a SRW fan... well, it's written in that Wiki page anyway. Simurgh's also a mech from SRW64.

Yeah, bit of researchin' (research is FUN!) brought me up several instances where Simorgh has been used for reference, from Final Fantasy bosses to a rather powerful Yu-Gi-Oh! card.
Ironically, the only one that *I* have been able to find that portrays the "dog-head" representation outside of its original sources...was the Dungeon 'n' Dragon's version that I loathe so much as to want to draw this as some sort of "I'll draw my own Simorgh, and it'll have Blackjack and hookers!" type of retaliation.
Whether I succeeded or not is up to debate :P
