So...backstory time.
A number of years ago me, my mate
ingonyama , and my mate
seneca99 were involved in a D&D style RP with Seneca's mate Thanos and friend Verdant (
northy ), who was our GM. The plot and world would be a bit too complicated to go into (plus I don't remember all the details) but the short version is that it involved all of us traveling from Earth to the world of Tesiare and there transforming into our fursonas...and joining in a quest to, of course, rid the world of evil and save innocents and loved ones alike. Thanos was a technomage, Yama was a druid, Seneca was a berserker warmage...and Nieve was a paladin.
Setting aside any real-world connotations of such a class and how it interacts with the world, I've always loved the idea of a holy knight, when done right and played as someone truly good, noble, and heroic rather than, well, a Knight Templar (in the TV Tropes sense--read fundy). What can I say, in many ways I'm still an idealist. So even though the paladin in this game served a dual-faced nature god who was both dark and light, order and chaos, it was still a great jumping off point for another role in Nieve's past. It also enabled me to do another RP, much more recently, more explicitly involving Nieve as his kingly self but also a paladin, hiring a troupe of good demonic mercenaries to help him destroy the undead army and its lich commander who was invading the lands of Clan Urquhart.
And now that role has been given a visual representation at last.
There's really nothing else I can say about this picture since it speaks for itself...anyone who knows of Cheetahpaws knows how incredible his art is, more stunning with every piece, and he certainly did not disappoint here. The silver and gold coloring was of course my own choice for a holy knight, but the coloring of his divine magic, and the motif found on his sword, coronet, and shield is derived from the fact that, in yet another RP I was part of with Seneca and Yama, Nieve possessed holy and moon elemental magic--a deliberate contrast to the usual sun symbolism of lions, but also one that fit in with his fey/nature heritage. (And my own tiger, Blake, already had dibs on fire magic anyway.) The rest of the design is inspired by the armor I had made for Blakeson (lion faces here instead of tiger), and a picture of a shield borne by the Powers, one of the nine orders of angels in the Book of Angels and tasked as celestial enforcers.
There you have it then. Hopefully that puts this picture in perspective for you and gives it even more meaning for some watchers. I adore it...even though Nieve is primarily a fey king, I do love the fact he can be a guardian and believes in protecting, defending, and combating evil in the world as well--perhaps he stepped down briefly from his throne, even gained mortality, so as to fill this role? You will see more of this aspect of his character in future art, but this is the only depiction that is explicitly D&D based.

Whoa, I think this might be the best pic of Nieve I've seen so far. The details on the armor are exquisite as well as on his body, my goodness the artist is talented! But look at that: the codpiece still isn't able to hide the entirety of his bulge, if you take a closer look! And his face tells so much... I could keep on telling how good this is but I don't I can describe how amazing this image is with whatever words I can post! Needless to say, I'd tap that!
Holy Mother of all LIONS!!!!
Nieve!, holy hell you look handsome, cute, sexy, big, sexy, epic, balls, hunk- *Brains fries by all the awesomeness that is Nieve in this pic*
You look gorgeous in this pic, and that armor looks really good on you, and that face....is look surreal, almost like...I don't know the words, but it looks really great.
The only words that I came up with to this masterpiece is.
Epic masterpiece.

I can't tell you how fitting a paladin is to Nieve, everything about him just simply oozes the very essence of a divine guardian, as wise and powerful as he is caring and fiercely protective, and certainly more than worthy of the utmost devotion and loyalty from his subjects, friends, and lovers alike.
CP certainly did quite an astoundingly stunning job on this, as he does all his work. I'd even go so far as to say you've never looked better.

Thanks so much! I really hoped this would come off well, since aside from his sexual side all we've seen of him is as a king and a professor. But you do a great job of describing what Nieve is, and what I want him to be.
Well, there will surely be versions coming soon that will vie with this one, but I do agree this is one of the best ever. ^_^

I LOVE this picture. The magic effects and jaw droopingly detailed and beautiful background SOMEHOW do not distract form the picture main focus which is the stunningly handsome herculean lion man in a gorgeously rendered and highly detailed set of armor. This picture from top to bottom in style is total eye candy for me. The position and expression to the lion them in the armor and the very well textured hair... man just this piece I swear... UNF!
One of my characters. My oriental lion, inspired partially by Zhuge Liang. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/4107841/
LOL! Awwww I'm sorry you hate me...but don't worry, I know you'll get great images yourself in the future, including that one we have planned. And yeah, obviously a work with this much detail and planning would suggest there was a lot of backstory, so I only felt it proper to relate it. Thanks!

Really, the composition of this picture should go to the original artist, I should commend your way of working the Law alignment (<i>Megami Tensei</i>-wise). I mean, I am inclined towards Chiaroscuro-Law (Neutral-Law) myself, thus your ideals here resonate a lot with mine.

Great quote.
Agreed, while I came up with the idea for the pic, suggested the motifs and colors and powers, and showed him images of the kind of armor, weapons, and designs I wanted, Cheetahpaws was the one who put it all together and then took it even farther than I imagined.
And interesting! I usually play paladins, whether Nieve or another lion character I have, as lawful good (but not of the Lawful Stupid variety). However being neutral so as to follow good more closely, and using the balance of this nature deity Nieve serves so as to draw upon darker and even vengeful aspects, really makes for a more unique and intriguing paladin who still defends good and right.
