Inner-Selves, No. 19, Part B
"Fidget, Fidget wake up" said a voice. Fidget slowly opened his eyes, he wasn't in the pit anymore, in fact, he appeared to be laying down on top of what looked like a giant pillar. He looked down at himself, he was wearing a diaper with a royal blue star on the front of it, and he was a lot smaller. "H-huh?" he said, realizing that he was using his baby voice. "Did I do it? Am I a youth sprite again?" he thought. He looked all around him, his rattle didn't seem to be anywhere, and when he looked in front of him, he thought he was hallucinating. Standing there in front of him, was himself, only he was in his adult form, wearing what appeared to be some black jean shorts, and a huge black star emblem on his chest, there was not much else different from how he normally looked. "Y-you're me, how is that possible?" the baby Fidget asked. He stood up and waited for a reply.
"Technically speaking, I'm only a part of you, I'm a fraction of your spirit's power, I came to wake you because I need your help" the adult Fidget said. "What's going on? Why am I here? The last thing I remember was being in that hole, turning into a spirit eater" baby Fidget asked. "You still are, this world that you and I stand in is your inner world, and as your spirit loses itself on the outside, this world faces certain destruction, just look over there" adult Fidget replied. The little Fidget turned where his adult form had indicated, there was another pillar, and it crumbled into what appeared to be a deep ocean. "As you can see, this world is falling apart by the second, if you become a spirit eater, it will cease to exist, we will cease to exist" the adult said. "That doesn't sound good what do we, whoa!" the baby said as he fell with a crumbling piece of rock. The adult jumped off the pillar and caught him, he was now floating in mid-air, with the baby Fidget in his arms. Baby Fidget looked down at the adult's feet, not understanding how he was walking on air. "The only reason I can walk anywhere I want to in this world is because I'm used to how this world reacts to your feelings and the condition of your spirit Fidget" the adult said.
Baby Fidget was confused, what did his feelings have to do with anything? "My feelings can affect this world?" the baby asked. "Yes, whenever you're calm, cool, and collective, this world is stable, I'd have no trouble getting around, but whenever something is troubling you, the ground can be treacherous here, I've developed the ability to airwalk in the event of such things" the adult said. "I had no idea that how I felt could have such a drastic effect on my spirit" the baby replied. "I'd like to explain more on this, but if we don't act now, there won't be anymore chances to explain it" the adult said. "Alright, what do we have to do?" the baby asked.
Outside of Fidget's inner world, the shading was getting worse, it was spreading to his face, and his eyes began to turn a shade of yellow, but he was still trying to fight it. Graham grew concerned, he jumped down into the pit, fearing that Fidget might try to escape and cause havoc. He got behind Fidget and made a hand sign, then he cast a spell. "Crippling technique number 9, Diaper Pin Cushion!" Graham declared. A series of giant white diaper pins pierced Fidget's spirit, pinning it to the ground that it stood on. "Boss, I'll try to hold him down for as long as I can, but if this kid doesn't become a youth sprite soon, he'll be too strong for my holding spells!" Graham shouted to Speckle. "I'll leave ya to it then" Speckle called back.
Back in the inner world, adult Fidget had led baby Fidget to a huge pile of boxes located on a pillar way off from where baby Fidget had awoken. "The only way to stop this chaos is for you to regain your youth sprite powers, all you have to do is find your rattle, it's in one of these boxes" the adult said. "But how do I do that in such a short time? There must be hundreds of these boxes" Fidget asked. "I don't know, but start looking!" the adult said. Around them, several other pillars were starting to crumble into the ocean. The baby started opening boxes at random, all of them were empty, except for the white threads that were coming out of them. "Darn it, this is getting me nowhere fast, if only I had some way of detecting where it was...wait, maybe there is, what did Seth say about these threads?" baby Fidget thought. He thought back to the day he and Seth had their contest, and the spirit thread lesson that he received. "That's it! One of these threads has to be blue!" the baby exclaimed. Suddenly, the pillar he was standing on started to collapse, all the boxes fell, their contents spilling out. Baby Fidget started to fall, the adult tried to catch up to him. Then just ahead, Fidget noticed the box with the blue thread hanging out of it, he moved towards it, he grabbed onto the thread. "Good, now pull it out, the rattle's at the other end! Do it, quickly!" the adult shouted. Baby Fidget began to pull the thread out of the box.
Graham's spell was weakening, the bear was alarmed. He started to prepare another one, but then Fidget's spirit started glowing, and gradually got brighter. "You might wanna put these on" Speckle said, handing Scratch and Fluff each a pair of sunglasses. He put on a pair of his own as well, then continued to watch the action. The whole pit was flooded with light, and the air got heavy, bringing Scratch and Fluff to their knees, the beam of light rose higher and higher, and finally came down and landed just outside of the hole. When the light vanished, there stood a small babyfur wearing only a diaper with a blue star on the front. In one hand, he was holding the remains of a broken rattle, and over varying areas of his body, were black patches, most of his face was covered in black as well, and his eyes were yellow. The baby panted heavily, and looked up at the dalmatian and his associates. "Uh, so what is he? Is he a youth sprite, or a spirit eater? I can't tell" Scratch said. Fidget raised his broken rattle, causing Scratch and Fluff to get nervous, thinking he might attack. Instead, Fidget touched the end of the rattle to his face, and the blackness vanished from his body, and his eyes returned to their normal color. He did it, his powers had returned.
