I can't tell you how much I loved being in Yosemite National Park for a week. The scenery there was absolutely astounding... especially in contrast to the endless flat farmland I'm surrounded by in my day-to-day life. There was no shortage of photography opportunities, which made me quite happy, to say the least.
This is Mt. Watkins, and Mirror Lake. The lake itself used to be much larger, but every year it fills with sediments from runoff. The park used to dredge the lake to keep it at its fuller state, but stopped doing that in the 1970s to allow nature to take its course. As such, Mirror Lake is slowly reverting into a meadow.
