ZOMG WTF OK COMPUTER WAS THE HIGH POINT OF MY LIFE *cut*
In all seriousness, In Rainbows was something of a letdown. It must be amazing with some psychoactive drugs in your system, but alone it's more mellow than I'm used to. There are bits and pieces reminiscent of other songs - scraps of Morning Bell, National Anthem, Mixymatosis, etc. - but nothing that stands out as strongly as You, There There, or Optimistic. It lacks the raw emotion that made even their weirdest stuff worthwhile. At this point I can only hope that, like the Deftones with their self-titled album, it's a fluke.

I'm actually listening to Meddle right now. There's far too much time between the end of One Of These Days and the 23-minute-long glory that is Echoes.

Do not hate them! Love them, give them some of the tasteh goodness and let them grow. You must remember we all at one point had no knowledge of music, only whatever our parents happened to listen to, then you rebelled and grabbed the good stuff! (unless your parents were already into this shite o.O)
My dad put headphones on mom's belly while I was still in there, telling her that Floyd and Zeppelin would ensure that I would grow up to be awesome. ;p
I teach when I can, but honestly, most I've encountered who don't know don't WANT to know. You know, this kind of music is OLD. Why would you listen to OLD stuff? *cough*

Oddly enough, I used to not know who pink Floyd was when I was a kid....but...i knew a lot of their songs...both from The Wall, and Dark Side Of the Moon. I didn't rtealize it until I was 16 and one of my friends told me. God bless that man for helping me give a name to that wonderful music.
I wouldn't want to know anyone who didn't go through the Pink Floyd phase in their teens. Even if they were like me and only listened to Dark Side and The Wall because those were the only CDs their cooler older brother had.
Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin or late-period Beatles or some more obscure band like Hawkwind or maybe Sabbath. Or the Clash. At least one of those, you gotta get into in your teens or else you'll grow up a very boring person. Not Queen though, blecch.

I think what scares me the most is that, someday, it will be the other way around in which one person that does listen to Pink Floyd while everyone else goes "Huh? Who dat?" Think about it, Pink Floyd is almost 40 years old. Soon, kids will wonder what this stuff is much like if you asked someone today to name one group from the 50's that were popular. (I can name the Inkblots and Bing Crosby but that's about it.)
A year ago, I knew nothing about these old bands(or that's what I thought, but their music is so influent and omniscient...). But then I decided to take a look at my dad's records, and I discovered a wonderful world of audio sweetness. I now listen to at least 7-8 33&1/2 a day >.< My friends find it wierd, since I could get them in MP3 instead of in giant disks xP
