The shifter (Lever on the inboard side - driver's right/viewer's left) should attach much lower. About where the column disappears behind the top of the dash. The turn signal stick (outboard side - driver's left/viewer's right) should be about halfway down. As it is now, it looks like they are both being held in place on the column by the wheel itself.
If you want more references, find a domestic full size van. That's what most RVs are based off of.
