We planted these trees 15 years ago when we bought the absolutely flat, sterile sand lot we live on. We really haven't seen them since... well, the trunks anyway. We let the brush and duff grow quite thick and pretty much swallow them until they were big enough to work with. Last night, wearing a head lamp and armed with the my trusty pruning saw and the sickle of grass destruction, I cleared out this rough path through this section. The little painted bunny is standing where we will install a wicket gate.
