HELP! How do you do it with 2 Goldens? I have 1 and the tumbleweeds of hair even with brushing and the furminator and the smelly farts are driving me nuts, LOL? Ive got him on as grainfree a diet as I can afford. Ive got him on Diamond Naturals. We rescued him out of a high kill shelter almost 2 months ago.

Mine only fart when nervous. I use only AIMS dog food, and no snacks or table scraps. I brush them about every 3-4 days with a slicker. Takes about 2 minutes per dog. There are still tumbleweeds, you just get used to it, and buy everything in beige/tan.....

Thankfully my living room is tan, LOL. Midas gets no people food and the Diamond is as grainfree as I can afford(has rice & barley). He does get brushed about every 3-4 days too so yea.. Time to get a better air freshener and a new vacuum I think. LOL .

Have you considered a raw meat diet? I have a mutt who was occasionally gasie until, while visiting a family friend on a trip down to Mexico, found he slaughtered and fed his pack of pit bull's raw horse and beef and chicken meat/bone. This was around 6 years ago and I never persued it in earnest until about two years ago.......and, frankly, he health has dramatically turned around. Joint, hip, and gas/intestinal problems are a thing of the past. Shes more energetic, happier, and in general just seems more brightly.

One thing I will say: It is a pleasant by product that her stooles are SO small and dry! I left two specifically out just to see what would happen, and sure enough, just like the forum's said!, they turned white and fell apart in about a week of exposure to sun and weather :)

I tend to feed Chicken Quarters, bone/meat/skin all, they are cheap and affordable, but you do want to mix it up. A pound for my silly snuggle muffins. :) which translates into about .65 cents a day on the good chicken.

Midas has gone on to his forever home but I still have Sunny, papillon mix. Hubby would never go for a rawmeat diet. Hes been a vegetarian since birth and is squicked majorly by meat. Sun likes diamond and no gas so we are good there.

I'm on the same page as your husband, have not had meat on nearing 7 years. It took to e to whine myself off and I respect him for his choice. However I know many veggies who make the choice to feed their animals the same diets they make. The dog is not made for plants and grains in general....which is totally wrong. Their meat eaters by evolution.

I hate meat, I hate blood in general......but against my own standards I feed my snuggle muffins a diet that gives them the maximum benefit for them. I compromise.

But diamonds a good brand, so thank yo for not forcing your own dietary habits on them and trying a vegatarian diet.

No Sun gets as high a meat content food as I can afford He also gets cow hooves and chew sticks once in a while. Midas went to a stellar home. He wasn't going to cut it as a SD for me so I contacted Gulf South Golden Rescue and he was placed immediately with a wonderful active retired couple.

Wonderful! So good to hear! My dogs training as a PSA but presently has been certified as a therapy/ESA dog. Not sure she will make the grade but either way she's a blessing.


If you ever use petsmart I win cards to them and dont use them to often, not sure where you get your food from but i tend to have some to spare for fellow dog owners

I still have about 15lbs of the diamond Naturals dog food, I think Since I no longer have midas I will switch Sun over to a senior blend, not sure which, maybe blue natural. I have to get a type that doesn't have the nutritional bits in it as Sun spits those out on the floor and will leave them there. He needs something with the joint supplements as he is aging. Hes not showing signs of arthritis yet but it will help him. He will be 11 next month. 1st geriatric dog Ive ever had. Right now I buy at tractor supply but may switch to petsmart since its only a mile away vs. the 10 miles that tractor supply is.

Oh Dear.............Now I must upload a few of my silly mutt. :) Very adorable. Hard to resist those silly faces and I see you decorated accordingly..........No doubt they easily fall into the decore to the point that people would totally miss them if they did not occasionally move or wag a tail.

Ya I have a lovely mutt that is a semi permanent fixture on the bed. She's still active and shows that rot tie a thing or two that you only learn with age like how to close and open doors ,as an example. Haha, I swear she almost traps her intentionally!
