Ok... This is a practice piece that I think is more or less unusable for it's intended purpose, but that has yet to be seen since I have not yet made the connecting gear. ^^;
The inner design I found at this site http://www.blackbirdsf.org/chainwheels/#upcoming , I greatly enjoyed all the designs there and am going to attempt to work a few into a personal project (aka not selling it for my own legal reasons. ^^; ) a wooden gear clock. I've seen several patterns for wooden gear clocks, all of them very difficult and intricate but it's a challenge I sought to undertake. Once I actually finish the clock it will function like a grandfather clock and keep actual time, but I have to be very careful in cutting the cogs so they interlock perfectly. Otherwise the clock won't work. :/
Either way I hope you enjoy this, and if anyone wishes I would not mind design suggestions for the insides of the gears. Keep in mind they should be sturdy enough to be in a clock. ^^
This piece is cut from eight inch thick birch cabinet grade plywood. It does bend a little which I'm not happy about but that is what the pattern called for so I'll have to see if the clock works. At current this piece is not stained or finished. I hope you enjoy and I apologize for the long winded explanation above. ^^;
Since I made this piece I have taken on a long project. I don't think I could make the gears for the clock I took this tooth pattern from. So I got a pattern for a wonderful wooden gear clock. It won't be filled with foxes but with kitties! I have taken pics of my family's three cats and made them part of the main wheel while putting other kitty things in the other gears. I don't know when it will be done but I will post it as soon as I do!
