I believe this is a Juvenile Coopers Hawk (corrected bellow). Guessing this was it's first time experiencing our extreme summers, so I think it decided to pay a visit to my back yard for some of the hotdog handouts my neighbors were giving it.
It was REALLY comfortable with us. Our backyards are both really small (more like converted car ports) and it landed only a few feet within the tight confines from us. I got to about 5 ft from it at my closest.
Of course I had to take pictures XD

I'm with the other folks who have commented on this shot. First, I think it's a great shot. Second I think it's probably not a Red-tailed Hawk. That's about all we get out here in West Texas, and while I have never seen a juvenile before, the tail and the striping on this guy's face just don't look quite right to me. I'm thinking Sharp-shinned Hawk along with Avisk. But that's why I hate hawks. They all look like the same damn bird. :X
