this looks really nice! Love the fur texture. And the background- it really contrasts against the character. You added a more semi-realistic feel to it, but I feel like the mouth stuck to it's cartoony roots... Maybe if you adjusted it's shape a little more you'd feel a little better about the outcome? or or the colour? there's barely any black outlining in the picture, so it looks a little funny and pops right forward. But really this looks nice, that fur looks gorgeous.
Yep!, thats actually the reason why I chose the green background - it's reds complimentary colour ^^, but I'm not too sure if the green is too dull or too rich in colour to be pleasing to the eye.
I think the muzzle itself is a bit too long , the same goes for the ear , I think wovles have more rounded, small ears than this.Plus I'm really unsure about how to effectively pull off short fur without making him look like some kind of terrier xD
I think the black outlining is just where I had the first base layer.I should have erased the edges afterwards.
When I make these I sketch the pic out,and then make a flat layer above it all one colour.I then paint the rest on.The nose, eyes etc get a new layer and i'll merge them down later and repaint over them afterwards^^
I think the fur is a bit too uniform , it's too neat (and long) but I like it anyway, prolly because of the contrast.I just need to tell myself that making the fur "all over the place" would be beneficial >_<"
I'm glad for the crit though ^^ I still have the PSD so I might mess around with it a bit more , that or I'll use the experience gained from this one in the next ^^ Thank you <333
