The large brass key that hangs on a hook near the counter in Amber's Magic Shop gets its own image.
Usually picked up by grasping the tassel.
[GET KEY]
Slow effort now to remove all line art and clean along edges of poor key-riding maus, paint the tassel and complete the key's shading. The background needs more work, also.

At one time there were two keys to the shop's back room. Because I had given one to Kit, I still needed another one to sit in the store, and at that time it was needed to get into the cloak dressing room, in addition to the back office/storage room.
But now the back room can be entered by combination as well as the key; the password is a classic magic word that would fit onto the bitting of the key if written in cursive, which I had originally done in this illustration then removed it. I decided that if the password were written clearly on the key, it would not really be a key of secrets. Also, the cloak room door does not require key now, but locks automatically while there are active people inside. They key only overrides that lock to allow another person into the dressing room.
So this key is no longer really needed, but performs as a master key for the shop. There are still other ways past these locks, assuming you are good at puzzles or understand the deeper inner workings of MUCK functions.
Now the mouse is an average size mouse, more for composition and sense of scale than anything. The key moves left to right towards a lock or perhaps an adventure, as shown by the implied motion of the tassel, with the mouse facing backwards. I am tempted to draw a paw moving the key, but its levitation seems to make it more interesting. My mind already begins to contemplate a story around this, even though initially it was only to illustrate the key.
