Finally, a high quality scan of my mother's last christmas present. It shows the Empire of the Great Moghul and the Marathan Kingdoms with the major cities, mostly those who have been either important for the Mughals or for foreign nations like France, England, Netherlands and Portugal.
Cartouches around the map show the Moghul, the leading Raj of the Marathans, Sir Clive in Calcutta and Dupleix in Pondichery.

I can see the resemblance of the softer lines of your pictures to those of the story links you gave. It reminds me of the old Peter Rabbit books I had as a child. They're very innocent. It's only when parents are aware of the more pornographic nature of so much of the art in the furry world.
