(Final Movement)
This is a woodwind quintet depicting a dark and deserted aquarium being explored by a solitary and curious traveler. It sounds mellow as he walks the halls, everything tinted a dark blue by the water. He looks into the tanks and imagines the fish that used to be there, reflected by a couple watery and somewhat bright movements. Then it goes mellow again, and he keeps exploring... until he enters a room and sees something that grabs his attention instantly, depicted by the final movement. At first he is stopped by awe, then is curious, and quietly walks into the room and raises a hand to the glass...
My music is always inspired by images (many found on this site!), this one I got from a piece of artwork by Tina Leyk (though not with her permission or knowledge, inspiration was all it was).
I wrote this a year ago for the Imani Winds to read when they visited my college. Needless to say, they sounded awesome! But for copyright/legal reasons I can't use the recording so I figured I'd but my new keyboard to use and get the hang of Logic which I recently purchased, and so here's the syntheized version! I may have the live version performed again later in the year, in which case I'll post recordings.
