Yes, Rango is a pet lizard who's a bit chubby (gets a regular diet without much exercise - which is biologically incorrect; he'd just grow bigger faster). The snake was threatening and vile, but what snakes aren't? Yeah, there weren't any particularly BUFF like the kind of deep, chiseled Unktehila by Echin buff lizard guys in film until The Amazing Spiderman.
