The lost element
In ancient times there existed powerful mages trained in the art of elemental magic. These mages were marked at birth with their special gift and were later trained to refine their skills. Through this training regimen the mages were given the responsibility to keep the balance of life in check. There are 6 main elements the mages could control, however no mage could control all 6. These elements, or Kayru, consist of fire, water, earth, lightning, air and darkness. Within this Kayru their is a larger set of sub elements that could be controlled by many mages at once. This group called Calypher allows the mages to share the bending ability between each other depending on the elements it contains. The Calypher could be things such as ice, sand and plant. Even though the Bending ability of Calypher is shared, the element can be completely controlled by one mage if they have a stronger willpower than that of the other elemental mage. When the mage achieves this control or Kentaro they are able to overpower the weaker mages bending on that element as long as their with that mage.
The willpower of a mage may be strong but only one thing rules over all of the elements, Light. Light is the secret element that binds all of the elements together. It can only be found in righteous and true mages no matter the size, strength or element.
However hundreds of years later the mages of darkness started to doubt the power of the other elements and think of them as petty and weak. Because of their skewn view of Kayru they decided to secede from the elemental cycle and become their own separate entity. Kayru became corrupted because because of the actions of darkness and The light that binds the elements began to fade. This succession also sparked tension between the other elements which lead them to think that each one was superior to the rest. Great wars broke out from this ignorance and elements clashed left and right. The wily and powerful elements such as fire and lightning were the most prevalant in the battles and destroyed most of the seemingly weak elements such as air and water. As the wars raged on some of the elements began to fade out of Kayru as their numbers dwindled. Following this catastrophe the binding element, light, disappeared and the world was plunged into utter anarchy.
In the present day the wars continue and all hope is lost for any salvation. Accept, on a cold day high in the mountains of Harmandu, a wounded earth mage stumbled upon an ancient temple with the symbol of Kayru on the intricate archway.
He proceeded into the temple and to his surprise, found a group of six elderly mages each of a different element. Before he could even approach one he was instantly healed then transported to an ancient forest. There he was given an ancient prophecy, it said “protect thy bretheren of Kayru no matter their element or power. The power of Kayru musty be restores and the light returned. Thy must carry this message to all corners of the earth and the thy chosen ones safe.” The general responded “who are these chosen ones?” The six mages responded in unison “those newly born of Kayru! They hold the purity of the original elemental intentions! They will hold the power to restore the light!”
At that moment the solider was back in his army base’s infirmary with no memory of where he was. he could only remember the prophecy, so he whispered to himself “carry the message to all corners of the earth and keep thy chosen ones safe.”
