The texture blending of skin into dragonflesh and scales is my favorite part by far. That, and like almost everything you draw, he looks like he's relishing every second of it, even though it's mind-numbingly intense. <3

I've never seen a glistening scales effect quite like this one before, did you use 3D/Shader?

Good question! It's been so long since I did this pic, I had to remember hard about how I did it. Actually it's mostly clever photoshoppery. The scales are sourced from a nice photo of a snake. The skin to scale transition was done via tricky use of masks. I can't remember if the underlying photo was stock from a friend or something rendered out of Poser. 3D didn't really have anything to do with the final shaded effects.
