"drp" should have been "deep". Since you did this, I wonder why you couldn't color the tarot cards to your satisfaction. This is much more elaborate. Could you have been in left hemisphere mode when you colored the cards (tarot is pretty intellectual), but in a non-representational right hemisphere mode when you did this?

Did you do the faces, or did they magically appear. I've had that happen when on acid or morning glory seeds...

That's a good point. I'm having a hell of a time trying to conjoin my ideas.

On one hand, I want my cards to be simple and pastorale, but the amount of symbolism required makes them cluttered, thus I try to make the whole thing look balanced by adding additional design.

I am not sure I remember my mode when I colored either one. Both times, however, I felt stuck and unsure of what I was actually doing. I was not entirely satisfied with how "Crucible" turned out, but I'm glad to know you like it.

Plus, with this I had something already there to work with, and there were no strict lines I had to work through or around like I do with the Cards.

Next time you are a bit stoned and/or drunk, try coloring one of those cards again. Your mind will be in a different place and you may be able to access some new approaches. The detailed hard line complexity may be constraining your creativity. One of the things that I like most about digital art is that I can't ruin the original, and after smoking a bowl of my favorite vegetable, sometimes good things happen, and sometimes they don't - but no harm done.

Do some coloring on a layer in multiply blending mode, then just click through all the other blending modes. Sometimes surprisingly pretty things happen.

I don't have any veggies to smoke, sadly, all I got is my booze. I really think Stephen would disapprove though. I do wish I had some to experiment with my art though, the only times I ever have access is just for the sake of getting stoned and it's wasted on being sillly.
