So this is just to say I'm not dead and I haven't forgotten about anyone. My new job has me busy, as does catching up on IRL stuff. I've been trying to work on commissions during my off time when I'm not passed out from work. After five years of not having a job like this, it's taking some time to get used too. Still. And, my boss and co-workers love me so much that they have moved me up to full time and I've only been working a total of six days (not counting days off). Woo!
So, commissioners, I appreciate your patience. I'm doing my best to get through them without wearing myself out.
On top of all that going on, my snake eggs have been due to hatch for a while now. The king snake egg (of which there was only one egg left out of the clutch) was due the 12th. Hatched at day 71, this morning. He is a CHUNKY FREAKING MONKEY THOUGH! Holy crap! Here I was expecting much what I got last year for corns..a wriggly worm of maybe 4-9 grams. No, this guy is a whole 12 grams! And he's over six inches long and fat!
He also has one hell of an attitude. A long-term breeder didn't believe me when I mentioned that this guy was STRIKING inside of the egg. He thinks it was just him moving..but I noticed a difference between just simple movement and a quick swift movement. He would follow the flashlight while inside his egg (prior to pipping), and then several times he did a striking movement at my flashlight. He began pipping yesterday, and this morning when I checked on him - he was out and about and striking at me through the container.
Funnily enough, I caught him right up and he curled into a ball. Once you get your hands on him he is a total sweet heart. He let me 'pop' him with no issues..and it wasn't even that hard. I think he was showing off that "Yes mom, I'm a boy."...
Haha. I love this little fella. I'm keeping him, for sure. Yeah it puts me at 2 males and 1 female, but that really doesn't bother me as I am considering getting a few more kings for next season. With this new job and all, I'm trying to figure out what I can do to expand my hobby as well.
Anyways, I'm working my butt off trying to catch up on anything. If the commissioners who have already paid don't want to wait, PLEASE let me know and I'll find a way to refund you. I do not mind doing this as I already feel bad enough that I'm so busy with work. D:
It's nice having a job though. The fact they love me so much is even more amazing.
I've officially earned the title "The Reptile Lady". It is how I kinda got my job after all!
Anyways, enjoy!
Oh, by the way, this fella is a banded California king snake. I think he'll be chocolate and cream as his parents are chocolate/cream colored.
His mother is a banana california king snake, and his father is a striped california king snake. =)

Yup! Mostly snakes right now though. The only non-snake reptiles I have are a female bearded dragon and two juvenile savvanah monitors.
And 'pop' is just a way to determine sex in young hatchling or juvenile snakes. What happens is when done correctly, if it's a male - his hemipenes 'pop' out. Definitely don't do it unless you know what you're doing because you can injure the snake. =)

I don't know if I'll have any anery's this year. I -might- if it was my snow male that bred to my Anery girl..otherwise I'll have normals, amels, and ultramels. There is of course my mystery girl..and a possibility my ultramel motley male may be het for some other things. This year was mostly a test breeding session.
