This exceptional piece was done by Natoli for
DragonLovers, the original piece is here (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8481094/ ),so if you have any comments about the style, skill, etc. please leave them directly with the artist herself
Obviously there’s a lot going on here so this deserves some in depth explanation:
This piece was inspired by the game EVE Online (a science fiction, space ship flying MMO) and the corresponding Corporation (or ‘guild’ in more generic terms) that Shato and I created. Our corporation was called Reaver’s Bane, inspired by the TV Show “Firefly” - effectively declaring that we were beings who fought against nasty pirates and space raiders to keep things safe for honest folk
Reaver’s Bane is currently in hibernation within EVE since circumstances have since dictated the need to shuffle personal and merge into other corporations. However, the people you see depicted here were the core members of Reaver’s Bane in its hay days, each is engaged in representations of their roles/favored activates in the corporation.
Starting with the adults, along the top from left to right we have as follows:
Dracasis – Black dragoness, our primary industrialist, working tirelessly in the research lab to bring us the latest and greatest in technological marvels and optimized manufacturing blueprints.
Shato – Blue and Orange bipedal dragoness, the fighter of our group, working to designe herself the ultimate ship. In her case this pretty much consists of the biggest guns available strapped onto the biggest most powerful engines available for maximum firepower and speed. Shielding, armor…basic structural integrity, these concerns are for the weak and faint of heart ;)
Odaith – Green dragon, the CEO/leader of the corporation, managing expenses, logistics, diplomacy, cash flow, scheduling and all those other tedious and meticulous tasks that are needed to keep the well oiled machine of Reaver’s Bane running smoothly and safely.
Saphirth – Silver and Black spotted dragoness imparting her knowledge and experience about hunting NPC (computer controlled) Pirates, commonly known within the EVE universe as “Ratting”.
The youngsters arranged along the bottom from left to right are as follows:
Anthiea – Purple and Green dragoness hatchling (the youngest depicted child of Shato and Odaith) wearing her miner’s helmet and playing with some samples of ore and minerals she collected on her last expedition.
Evergrenth (a.k.a. Ever) – Blue and Green striped dragon hatchling (middle child of Shato and Odaith) also wearing his miner’s helmet like his little sister, but admiring a softer specimen of treasure, his girlfriend.
Balam (a.k.a. Ever’s Kitty) – White and Black spotted snow leopard adolescent wearing a construction worker’s vest and lugging around her tool box, helping to do maintenance on our vast array of Player Owned Starbase’s (stationary towers known as POS’s).
Amorah – Blue and Red dragoness hatchling (the oldest child of Shato and Odaith) playing with some models, trying to figure out how she can combine some extra large after burner engine modules with a POS tower to transform it from a stationary emplacement of massive shielding and immense firepower, into a mobile doom platform which she can use to take over the universe. As inspiration for the end result, she has a little model of the Death Star beside her :)
Razakasis (a.k.a. Razi) – Black dragoness hatchling (the product of Dracasis and Saphirth) following in her mother’s paw-steps, playing the attentive student and learning about all the in’s and out’s of Ratting.
This piece had been rattling around in my head for several years now. It’s finally been brought to life and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It makes for a wonderful commemorative portrait that does a magnificent job at capturing everyone in their element. Thanks very much for all the time and care put into this complex piece Natoli, it turned out amazing

They are kind of a joke and play on words :)
In the game EVE Online, one of the standard ways of making money is by hunting and destroying computer controlled Pirates, who have bounties on their heads. This form of ‘Pirate hunting’ is generally known in game as "Ratting".
Hence, here we have someone who's primary activity in EVE was "Ratting" teaching a youngster all about it, and using squeaky toy rats (the rodent kind, not the pirate kind) to help illustrate examples and such :)
