In November, my grandfather passed away. A week after his 90th birthday, he fell while getting ready for bed, and stopped breathing. It took over 45 minutes to bring back his heartbeat, and he then remained in a coma for a week until my family decided to pull the plug. We never learned what really caused his death, be it the fall, or if he had a heart attack or severe stroke and that's what caused him to fall, or if it was a combination of events.

A few months ago while I was working on the previously posted marker doodles, my uncle came to me and requested I draw up a memorial tattoo for him. My grandfather was a shoemaker before he was forced to retire, and he was always watching cowboy movies, so we thought a cowboy boot was perfect.

My uncle ended up changing the design a bit, adding some shoemaker tools sticking out of the boot, and some hot peppers and tomatoes around it (my grandfather was also quite the gardener). He also decided to have "Dad" and his dob-dod on the side of the boot.

I thought my uncles additions made it a bit cluttered, and rather liked my simple boot with his initials, JPL, embroidered on the side, so I saved my original drawing before making his requested changes for myself and colored it.
