It's been a long time since I submitted things here. And uh, in the midst of all my life there's been this little thing that's always made if not smile, then at least feel better. It's this. Five colts, all members of some coltband-- boyband. :> And what's special about this art is that it holds soooo very much... time in it, and so many little small things all rolled up into one pic.
The story goes: This was actually finished a few weeks ago, and I started drawing this thing millions of years ago in winter 2011, just for fun, to see if I could quickly just make pony happen for the heck of it. I couldn't really. It was hard and took like... 3 hours or more? to make the two ponies on the right, in ink. Not only that, but a lot of those three hours went into drawing and erasing and messing up (you can still see the big pony heads if you look closely). It bit. But I finished those two, though I wanted five colts. Muuuuch later on at Anthrocon in "my very first Artist's Alley evar!"</littlepipsqueak>, I drew the center pony rearing up, and most of the badflank-lookin' styled mane one beside him, in less than about 2 hours. Buuut I still had one to go, and I drew him at BronyCon. He's the very pretty-colt friendly one with a hoof around Badflank there, and he took less than an hour with almost no erasing and lots of ease! So in this pic, time flows from right to left, and so does my drawing skill. Not only that, but locations change, from Anthrocon to Bronycon. So this was a really cool unintentional progression captured. And it's pony. And all that makes me....
c: smile. yeah.
The boyband is named acbc, in all no caps, which comes from drawing most of them at Anthrocon and BronyCon. Also they have no cutiemarks because I don't know what their specialties in the group (or life) are!
Also also, I'd really like to see if you would like to color these ponees in, 'cuz I bet they'd look really cool all 1990s and colorful and ridiculously overstyled like the Backstreet Boys. You can repost colorings on your galleries (FA dA and such) as long as you credit me on the drawing bit. ...come to think of it I should have given them facial fur 'cuz all the boybands had ridiculous facial hair in the 1990s. Enjoy. :> I really had fun bringing these guys into the world on paper :>

Cool - on the list of things that would be fun to color if I ever ever ever have free time - I'd say the one on the left is my favorite out of the group manely due to the nose I've yet to find a good male nose from a front view. 2nd did you ever post about BronyCon - I was there and I've been trying to figure out if I ever ran into you.
The one on the left was last, and best. :> The evolution of sorta... touching with the fingers in my head makes that kinda face possible. I draw faces based on how I imagine they would feel if I touched them, so, dat soft fuzzy nose would be extra cute and pretty for me to shape and draw. And no I never did post about BronyCon, I should do that. I could find no one, and you probably saw me, but didn't recognize me, as I had only one conbadge with me, and not of my pony self. It was so crowded in there it was impossible to find anyone. Woulda been cool to meet you though. :>
So you never saw my suit http://mrhugodrax.deviantart.com/ga.....craps#/d52bubj dam
This is really cute, and I love how it came out. :) It's a really fun idea, and the fun energy and innocence of that boy band sorta feeling really comes across in their friendly expressions. Makes 'em all look like ponies I'd totally love to go see in concert and fansquee at and fantasize about giving them hugs. ^^ I love all the manestyles too!
Thank you dear. :> I would think that in this, they posed (or were posed) for an album cover photo. And yes their manestyles! Remember JC Chasez? Ammagosh riddickilous. And i found out in drawing this, two things make a pony. Their colors and their manestyles. Cutie marks and horns or wings, meh, we can imagine them without these. From a drawing artist's point of view, and with color removed here, manes make a recognizable outline front or back, head or tail. Is fascinating what I learned, heh.
Hehe, yeah it really looks like the sort of thing that would be a shot for an album cover. That's a really neat thought, and I think you're right. Wings and such can all look pretty similar, and cutie marks don't really convey the whole personality and character as instantly or clearly as other things like the mane and colour do. So for the sort of thing you've done here, the mane is the most important part that really distinguishes each of the characters and gives them their own personality. I'll have to keep that in mind more next time I'm doin ponyarts!
