I use pencils for shading as an underlayer and then use my markers over the top before applying the white pencil as highlights. I do use Promarkers though, which are basically permanent markers. However, it might work for you. c:

Actually, I think the effect it gave is pretty epic looking! Nice little textures it has, especially with those white highlights :D

I think the pencil looks great on the upholstery and background in general. I think doing multiple tints and shades in the fur on the character looks best when you do it all in marker.

I could think of one thing that might have made this better. but still this looks pretty good to me ^.^
(hint imagine instead if she were wearing a nice piece of light pink lingerie)
and i wouldn't worry about the marker/colored pencil as they say you're your own worst critic.

I actually really enjoy the pencil/marker, maybe you just need to play with it more/try out different blending :) some pencils make weird looks over it and some don't. Prismas over markers always look too "grainy" for my taste for example. Prismas in general...require a lot of blending since I hate when they look grainy.

In any case, I think this is really sweet <3 I love when you do little simple backgrounds for your pieces too!
