This is a little place holder piece so people know I have not abandoned my FA account. I am just working to get my DA account caught to my account here before I start cross posting.
Taking a short break from my Equestria dreamscape for a bit of practice. This is color study I did recently of Princess Celestia. I really don't consider it a finished piece, and I did it to test out what colors I would need to recreate her mane and tail. Also tried an idea for the sparkles in them to. I am happy with her cutie mark and the her pectoral piece.
Results are okay. I didn't attempt to render as much detail in mane as probably should have, but that is why this is a color study. Also I want to thank Smudge who provided some useful anatomy tips that I think made the piece a lot stronger. I'll be doing one of Luna sometime in the future to.

You mean his color keys? He did one for each season, including only characters that first appeared (or were revised) in that season.

if you told me when I was 18 that in 30 years I would be watching a show for young girls, with the approval of thousands of fellow watchers of the show, collecting toys and altering cusswords from f to b, I would have not believed and told you to put down the crack pipe. and yet here I am, wondering if the Rodeo Song can be cleaned up enough for Applejack to sing, seriously considering Toys that I can neither eat nor use in work, and making up words to use in "Ponyspeak" which seems to just mean say anything farm-related as it pertains to horses as often as you can. Save me, Baron Coon, I am going crazy with others along for the ride.
Here is an attempt I made a few years ago. For some reason, during a period of declining confidence in my supervisors at work, the Rodeo Song kept coming to mind. So far, all that I have cleaned up is the refrain:
“It’s allemande left, and it’s allemande right; hey you freakin’ dummy get on your right step right!
Get off the stage, you gol’durn goof, you know! (you know).
Tick me off, stinkin’ jerk! Get on my nerves!”
For Princess Luna, it might go like this:
“Allemande to the left, and then allemande to the right; Lo! Thou worthless cretin, get on thy right step right!
Depart the stage, thou clumsy oaf, verily!
Thou vexeth me unduly, insufferable fool! Thou exhausteth our patience!”
I couldn’t do anything with the verses, as thoughts of Sarah Palin kept getting in my way:
“There’s Sarah P. Ailin’ with idolatry in hand…”

She is magnificent, isn't she? Even when she isn't trying. And after over 1,000 years, she must know how to take care of herself despite the stress and unpredictable schedule.
I enjoy the details you put in, even if you consider it little more than a color study. The padding under the neck piece, the hoof-boots being worn, not body-conforming, the build showing she isn't some ethereal combination of unicorn and pegasus but has just as much strong earth pony in her. And the sparkles just top off the shininess you already have in her mane and tail.
Speaking of which, do they "blow in the (nonexistent) wind" in your dreamscape the way they do in the show?

Well as one person pointed out to me, she is not a combination of just pegasi and unicorn. She represents all three tribes so she also has the earth pony muscular connection to the land.

Petina does hope to someday take Luna clubbing in Canterlot and show her the nightlife. After all she is the princess of the moon! Now the clubs in my dreamscape are more like a mixture of 19th century Paris cabarets and Victorian London club. Not the wub, wub club scene of today, but they are still clubs and they can be fun.
