Well cast resin involves sculpting a face from oil clay, brushing it in many layers of silicone, making a mother mold out of a rigid substance and then using what basically becomes a silicone bowl to slush around a quick cure resin and the result is a thin lightweight mask. Resin casting is difficult and very expensive but it can be lucrative if someone is good enough to make quality resin blanks.
Expanding foam http://www.monstermakers.com/catego.....am-Latex-Kits/ is a soft expanding foam that cures into something similar to upholstery foam. The process of mold making is the same except you fill the mold with expanding foam. It can be a partial mold or a full 2 part mold.

I really need a resin head for a wolf for a friend, but I need the cheapest I can get, but I guess making one isn't, espetially if I make mistakes :P I want one from monoyasha really bad but its only up for the next hour and there's no way to make 80 bucks in one hour :P well ill check out the other foam thing cause it ssounds intersting
To make one resin cast from scratch will cost you about 120 bucks. About 70 for the materials (more if you mess up), clay and a accurate headform. The foam latex will probably cost about the same if not more because you have to buy the silicone and mother mold separately at about 30 bucks each plus the accurate headform and clay...about 6 pounds of oil clay. A lot of people sell blanks besides monoyosha.
well you can go to http://fursuitauctions.livejournal.com/ (you need a livejournal account and join the community) but it's the best place to find a resin blank.
