The supporting cast of Bob Kiwi & Co. ( http://bobkiwi.tripod.com ), kitted up in a send-up of all things Hogwarts. 2005's Halloween image.
This was originally supposed to be a parody, but then I remembered I was too lazy to do research, and things kinda went goofy from there. Still:
Lita (rabbit) was a natural choice for Slytherin. A brassy gal with a penchant for thievery and physical combat, she's also the bodyguard, driver/pilot, and errand-runner of San Viano's top Mafioso, the Evil Sir Ivan Kiwi. That white SD ball of teeth is PyKL (Psychotic Killer Lamb; pronounced "pickle"), her pet carnivorous sheep. (She's teaching it to savage on command. The command is "Is he friendly?") Astute fans will note the puffball lure she's using to tempt PyKL bears a strong resemblance to Drake, as well as the nod to Mr. Smilie emblazoned on Lita's robes. As for the Sign Holder (brown kiwi) - he isn't in robes because he's only nine, but seeing as he follows Lita around like a kid brother, he'd probably wind up in the house of the snake as well.
Squeaks (mouse) fits reasonably well in Gryffindor. He's a classically-trained soldier currently employed as a police detective, and though he's as loyal as anyone could want, he tends to bend rules or even ignore them completely when they get in his way. Both gryphons are his pets - though one is a hologram, and the other a rescued feral from a collaborative story that may never get finished...
Ferdia (bluebird) is Squeaks' partner, and probably more Gryffindor than Ravenclaw, but at this point in the drawing, I was a little less enthralled with details than with aestetics. Anyways, she's clever, quick-witted, hot-tempered, drives like a bat outta hell, and usually gets herself and her partner mixed up in her brother's paranormal investigations in the purported interest of keeping Ferdie out of trouble. She also tends to be the detective in charge of feeding the 42nd Precinct's coffee (it's semi-sentient mascot).
Newton (lizard) is a self-taught wizard. As such, he's apt to get bits of new spells wrong - a dropped gesture here, a mispronounced vowel there, and before you know it there's a five-foot crater in the floor and an angry band of villagers coming after you with torches and boiling pitch... He hails from a side demention the group's travels took them to in A Scythe in Time, and wound up getting pulled back with them - and the miniaturized temple dragon, which now lives out its days making his as worrisome as possible. Newton's not much in the self-confidence department, but he's decent, hard-working, and honest, which makes him a Hufflepuff if ever I saw one...
The background banners were supposed to spoof the dorms' crests, and be a take on the elements: Fire, Air (winged snake), Water (coffee), and Earth (which fortunately I did not need to draw, background space having run out).
All in all, a fun if pointless venture, but still one of my more favorite Bob Kiwi images. I could've sworn I'd uploaded it already...
Uni-ball inks on copier paper; colored in PhotoShop, with some background rendering in Bryce.
