Once you get close enough to get that level of detail, you can see just how vicious these things look. They look so harmless at an eye altitude but when you get real close, you can start to see spines and incisors and what not XD

He looks like he wants to eat your brains x3 It's cool, I really like the close up shot. I have a yellow finch that always flys to my window in the morning just after sunrise. He sings for me and I usually give him some little nuts and bird food. I've actually about half tamed him. He'll get onto my paw, but i'm working on getting him to come onto my shoulder now. After that I can focus on getting a squirrel to eat from my paw and come to me x3. They're so cute.....

Thanks for the info and the warning. Since it sometimes takes good pictures, the problem can't be a lousy lens or sensor or all pictures would be terrible. I'll bet the problem is in the automatic picture taking software. If it allows manual control, give that a try. You might also see if the manufacturer has free software updates. Unlikely, but not impossible. Here is what I use:
