Technically no, they can't purr... They have a bone in their throat that allows them to roar, but the tradeoff is that they can't purr... at least like conventional cats. They do make a series of other noises when their happy though, including chuffs and growls, so that kinda counts

I read some of your journal, and I've always been really impressed that you went out to Africa to be with the lions, and OK it wasn't maybe quite your thing ultimately.....

Lol, thanks man! It was a big life-change and a big decision, for sure... I loved the work, but as I'm sure you gathered, I just couldn't cut it living in Africa. The creature comforts I was fine without, but it was the lack of culture, friends, and family that I really couldn't do without. In the end I still feel like I made the right decision, though I do miss my lions and the work that I was doing terribly!
