Here's my PROTOTYPE DS cases! the final versions will be made in different ways, with different colors, etc. Many of these were made with scraps as they're just my prototypes.
So, I've decided a cool thing to make would be custom nintendo DS cases. These will comfortable hold the DSlite, the 3DS, Gamebody Color and, at a push, the gameboy advance. I'm not sure abotu anything else, but I shoudl imagine the DSi, too?
Here's my prototype batch - testing the pattern and methods! It's all 6 of the main characters in the MLP: FiM series! I've added each of their cutie marks onto the case.
The cases are made of anti pill polar fleece and are either hand sewn or machine sewn - depending on when I made them, thread color, etc. It's pretty confusing so I won't bother going into it any further.
They have a mixture of glued and sewn on markings, but that's because I was experimenting - I needed to sew them on before I sewn them together, which I wasn't aware of at first haha! There's also some hand painted designs in a permanent acrylic paint that won't smudge or come off.
Here's detailed information about all of them individually:
Rainbow Dash: Mixture of machine and hand sewn seams. Hand sewn rainbow markings, made from felt, and a hand sewn cloud, made from fleece, with a small painted accent. Future cases will likely be made this same way, but probably with hand sewn seams. This is the most well made as it was the last of the batch that I made.
AppleJack: Machine sewn seams, glued markings made from fleece fabric. Future versions will feature sewn apple markings and probably hand sewn seams.
Twilight sparkle: Hand painted white stars and lines coming from the pink star. Hand sewn pink star made from fleece fabric. Machine sewn seams. future versions will most likely have full hand sewn seams.
Pinkie Pie: The worst of the batch! Hand sewn balloons, hand painted balloon string. Unfortunately, I miscalculated the length of balloons and they were added on too low down on the front, and I had no blue fleece so the blue balloons are green. There's also a blue stain next to one of the seams where I accidentally smudged the acrylic paint. Future versions will feature more central balloons, blue fleece and a lack of blue paint smudges!
Rarity: Hand sewn diamonds made form fleece with hand painted markings. Green fleece was used asI had no blue. The future versions will feature blue diamonds and most likely hand sewn seams!
Fluttershy: Hand sewn butterfly wings, made from fleece fabric, with hand painted butterfly bodies. Future versions will be made with a perfected wing template and will most likely have hand sewn seams.
Hope you like them!
I'm thinking of selling off the prototypes you see here. should I decide to do this, they will be £3 each, with the exception of Pinkie Pie which will be £1 each), plus postage. I shall let you know if this is what I decide to do. future versions will be £5 each
