As everyone knows, when Gryphons live together in a community, there is much feather ruffling and jostling for being the most impressive. Cultures evolve to be ever more ridiculous. Recently, a new trend amongst self-governing communities is allowing each individual to name itself, and given the gryphons' propensity for being ostentatious, these individuals have taken to giving themselves pompous, important sounding names. This portrait in particular is an individual who named himself Mortem Omnia, roughly translated, "the death of all things". He also has created his own coat of arms, of sorts. This is not uncommon, as well as portraying symbols of royalty, or visual assertions of relation to the "ruling class". These symbols, not unlike their names, aren't taken very seriously.
