Chouon was inspired to be drawn after watching the "Haibane Renmei" series. Haibane are angel like beings who come to earth and are born from giant coccoons. Traditionally, Haibane are named after an element from the dream they had within the coccoon. In Chouon's dream, she was standing atop a formation of rocks looking out over the ocean as the waves rolled in. So, Chouon means "the sound of waves."
