Beautiful pic. Have you ever shown your portfolio to magazines or publishers? These would make nice illustrations for many kinds of things.

Nope. Not sure how to go about doing that.

I've looked at clearing houses, but I'm still not sure about the returns on those.

Maybe you should just put together a portfolio containing your best pictures, call some places and ask for an appointment? If these places are not very far you could go there in person.

And since you're really good at taking pictures of insects you could take a look at some entomology books - did the people who wrote the text also take the pictures? Some publishers might be able to give you more leads.
