This is my Romantic Hazardous Materials Identification System (HMIS) diamond, as proposed by Dante Shepherd in Survivng the World.
This goes along with this journal entry wherein I try to get everyone to do one in one of those viral meme-type things that people are always trying to start. I can't say I have high hopes for it, but... one never knows.
I taught myself to read NFPA diamonds (which are very similar to HMIS diamonds) back in college when I had some spare time waiting outside the darkroom in my photography class. Starting at blue, it's health hazard, flammability/flashpoint, reactivity and special. Each colored square gets a rating from 0 (no danger) to 4 (high/deadly). The white square has special instructions, like OXY for an oxidizer.
Of course, the colors stand for different things when we're talking about the romantic HMIS diamond...

Perhaps, but how else to translate 'health hazard' into something romantically-based? 'Self-destructiveness' could be a factor of how bad the relationship is going to hurt you. And if you want to quibble my rating on that... well it's no secret that sometimes it can be very trying to be my friend, let alone a romantic partner. ^_^
For anyone who doesn't want to reinvent the wheel, here's a blank HMIS diamond.
